Biography from Charles and Marie press release:

Stephen Reed grew up in the London suburbs with a tendency to take objects apart to discover how they work. As his interest in design progressed, he found the need to explore design from other perspectives. This led to a move to Holland, where Stephen busied himself learning about Dutch culture and design. After a few years, the experience prompted him to return to England, where he enrolled at Ravensbourne College of Design.

Stephen graduated from Ravensbourne in 2005, with a degree in Product and Furniture Design. Nominated for the Young Designer of the year in 2006 by the Furniture Show for his graduate project: the Soft Table, Stephen's designs and installations have garnered him many commendations. After graduation, Reed worked for Thomas Heatherwick studio, on restaurant interior design projects as well as Landor & Associates designing retail spaces.

Wanting to venture out on his own, Stephen set up a studio in East London, working on projects for the Emerald Fund, Charles & Marie, Back4, Mathmos, Industreal and Fred Inc. The studio's work has been described as innovative, functional and playful. Reed’s designs have appeared in magazines like Wallpaper*, Icon, Blueprint, Design Week, Living Etc and numerous websites. Products are available through SCP and Magma shops in London. A major commission to design and build the installation for the Young Design Centre in London was completed
in May 2007.
